Long-term Institutional strengthening Processes:

To ensure a long-term and sustained approach to tackle child malnutrition, cluster based approach has been designed where every ICDS BEAT has been divided into three clusters which are the groups of anganwadi with geographical proximity. The three prone strategy has been adopted in discussion with the government:

  1. Empowerment:

A cascade model of training has been designed where a pool of master trainers drawn from the key line departments of government working on child nutrition including women and child development, health, tribal development, education and rural development undergo regular inputs relating to performance excellence. These master trainers in turn the grassroots functionaries on a monthly basis. Key activities process and components are:

  1. Trainers identification workshop
  2. Training of Trainers
  3. Custer level meeting and training
  4. Refresher Training of Trainers
  1. Social Mobilization:

A process of behavior change communication is adopted where the cadre of grassroots worker including anganwadi worker is motivated through series of activities that include:

  1. Information, Education and Communication ( IEC ) materials
  2. Street Play training and performances on local issues relating to health and nutrition
  3. Village level meeting
  1. Mentoring and Monitoring:

The process of mentoring and monitoring is being strengthened through committed efforts of the government cadre through:

  1. Cluster level Meeting: Scheduled on every 10th, 11th and 12th working day of the month and steered by ICDS department where the cadre of ICDS Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, ANMs, ASHA, School teachers and Gram Sabha members review the status and agree on the plans for the next month
  2. Taluka Level Task Force Meeting: Scheduled on Every third Friday of the month ( a day prior to it if Friday is a holiday ) chaired by the Block Development Officer ( BDO ) where the CDPO, ICDS Supervisors, Yashoda, Gram Sevak and any other taluka officer as per the requirement review the status and agree on the plans for the next month
  3. District Level Task Force meeting: Scheduled every second Thursday of the month chaired by either District Collector or CEO of Zilha Parishad where the DHO, Dy CEO ( women and Child Development), PO ( Tribal Development) and any other district official as felt necessary review the status and agree on the plans for the next month
